Rose name: Santana

Other names: TANklesant

Hybridizer: Tantau

Country: Germany

Introduced: 1985

Type: large-flowered climber

Colour: red

Height: 200-300 cm

Fragrance: mild

Flower size, open: 8-10 cm

Disease resistance: good resistance to mildew, moderate to blackspot

Growing in containers: according to Tantau “the best red climber for container cultivation”

Blooming: in flushes throughout the season

In my garden: Fairly disease resistant (dark, glossy, thick leaves). Santana has this classic velvety red colour – beautiful blooms. Spent flowers stay on the plant and wait patiently until you come and remove them, which makes for a happy gardener (no need to pick a thousand petals from the grass).
