The Pilgrim

the-pilgrim-rose-2-2

Rose name: The Pilgrim

Other names: AUSwalker, Gartnerarchitekt Günther Schulze

Hybridizer: David Austin

Country: United Kingdom

Introduced: 1991

Type: climbing rose, Englisk Musk Hybrid

Colour: yellow

Height: up to 3 m

Fragrance: strong fragrance (tea rose and myrrh according to David Austin), in my opinion the fragrance is like freesia flowers – absolutely fabulous!

Flower size, open: 7 cm

Disease resistance: good

Growing in containers: probably too big for containers long term, plant to train it up a wall or a pillar

Blooming: blooms in flushes throughout the season

Heritage: Graham Thomas x Yellow Button

Named after: the Pilgrims in Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales

In my garden: It is growing in a small container so it cannot reach its full potential, but flowers bravely into October. ( It is end of October now and it still has flower buds).
